Ha no shame in that.  I was actually looking forward to using the new furnace after years of the boiler which took forever to heat up the whole system.  Usually left it off until it was time to consistently need it.  With the new forced air heating system it's nice to be able to just kick on the heat and bam, it's toasty in minutes.  :guitar:

Went out and spent some time in the crisp evening air a little while ago.  Found a cool new location for some milky way shots at a desolate graveyard in the middle of BFE south of here.  Was very creepy, with an owl that kept hooting from somewhere in the woods behind me lol.

Nice shots.  Love the lighting.  Unfortunately, I have to drive 60-80 from this area, before I can even begin to see anything that approaches that.  We have a decent telescope, but, it's pain to have to drive that far, just to star gaze.

Now until round about martini is the best cooking baking and camping season of the year IMO. Bonus on wildzeit for hunters and people who hunters owe favors to. Extra bonus if you live in vino country.

Look forward to the Galena area 2014s in a year or 2....should be an interesting year to taste. Gonna grab some each weekend starting next week through mid october

Have an area recommendation on dry white, low on the oak? I'm really impressed by how hilariously good some of the midwest wineries have gotten in the last decade. Or maybe its just the distribution and reputation thats changed. Get your grüner veltliner from Ohio, buy it at the grocery store in Chicago, why not.

The Mrs. usually gravitates towards the reds...but i will poke around a bit and PM you...i think we are planning a few tastings for the weekend of 27th also...so that will hopefully provide a few more options to get us out of the "red". Recon this upcoming weekend first.

Gray day today with passing sprinkles...sounds like the rest of the week should be pretty nice

Late freeze in may has limited the amount of good fruit on some of my trees. Normally i have a few week period when the migratory birds stop by and go to town on the sloppy seconds here in the fall...curious to see their reaction when they come on through here over the next month and find nothing. Also, gonna be a long winter for the possums and raccoons locally who usually start stocking up from my trees now.

I noticed fewer Raccoons and Opossums this year. I think last winter was too harsh for some. My mulberry tree did not produce as many berries as it normal does this summer. A food source for those two critters, squirrels and various birds.

Getting some mixed sun in Racine, but the clouds to the north will start building in soon.

Rain rain rain...should be done by noon.

NAEFS wants to put a nice trough in the Ohio Valley to finish out the month?

Wonder where all the millions in California will relocate to once the state turns to dust :)

I think it was the EURO control that is showing a major trough as well coming in on the 27th.

lol, it's what we do here...get rain. Had a few decent cracks of thunder on the front end too.

As for temps...yeah, been very nice sleeping weather. I can't complain at all.

Chad is saying 80+ on Saturday.  Shouldn't feel too bad though as dews don't look to get crazy.

80˚ in September  :o ...unheard of in these parts.

;)

MEX showing 80 and considering how it's overshot many times this year, doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence at this point.  But from a climo perspective, the last 80 happens in October most of the time.

Well, hopefully we can tag 80˚ a few times in October for you.

I know it's been a rough year for you, with promises of big heat and drought failing to materialize. :D

I'll always have 2012.  Probably going to be a while before something like that happens again (not just talking summer...who can forget the ridiculous March).

Yep, 2012 on a whole was something else. Though of course, I much prefer 2014 over it. :)

On a side note, man did the NAM botch today's rainfall (too far north). Even the 12z run couldn't figure it out.

This mid-September cold snap has started furnaces, brought out coats, and even the trees seem to be changing color much more rapidly than usual (though that is not necessarily attributed to this cold snap, at least not entirely). I was at the Tigers game Saturday night and the sky even looked cold. Felt like October baseball for sure.

Pretty sweet you can see Ford Field from that location in the park.  Nice.

Hit 39 here this morning.
