High of 47 at MSN and 50 at MKE will likely hold. Back to back record low maximums at both locations.

Only nine other times has MKE recorded a high of 55 degrees or lower before or on Sept. 15th.

52 9/13/1873
52 9/8/1883
54 9/9/1883
50 9/15/1916
53 9/10/1917
54 9/13/1923
54 9/14/1923
55 9/10/1940
53 9/13/1970
51 9/11/2014
50 9/12/2014

Interested to see how clearing plays out tonight, have an outside chance to fall below 40 degrees.

pretty confident this is the worst Feb. 12 i'll ever experience weather wise.

 to the bolded.

57˚ the high today at LAF, 23˚ below the normal high of 80˚. Shatters the airport record low max for today (63˚ in 1975). But, the usual caveat of some missing years applies. The WL COOP record for today is 52˚ set in 1902.

.UPDATE...
IMPRESSIVE MID LEVEL SHORT WAVE NEAR EAU CLAIRE IS HEADING
STEADILY EAST. PRECIP SHIELD HAS A DISTINCT BACK EDGE THAT
STRETCHES FROM NEAR FOND DU LAC TO JANESVILLE AND IS EXPECTED TO
CLEAR MILWAUKEE AROUND MIDNIGHT. THE SUBSIDENCE BEHIND THE SHORT
WAVE IS IMPRESSIVE AND IS CLEARING OUT THE CLOUDS ACROSS WESTERN
WI VERY QUICKLY. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A G3 GEOMAGNETIC STORM
THAT MAY PUSH THE AURORA FAR ENOUGH SOUTH FOR US TO GET A VIEW. WE
JUST NEED TO CLEAR OUT THE CLOUDS...AND THAT MAY HAPPEN.
ONLY MADE MINOR ADJUSTMENT TO TEMPS AND SOME OF THE COVERAGE OF
FROST WEST AND NORTH OF MADISON. FROST CONCERNS SHOULD BE FAIRLY
MINOR TONIGHT.

Down to 42 already here.

Cleared out but no auroras yet.  Bz was way negative until shortly before sunset and then went way positive, and has been ever since.  Once it crashes back south should be a great show.

Hopefully it does, do you plan on getting pictures? If so I look forward to them.

Rain almost done here. Starting to see near 40° readings 50 miles to the west.

About 0.30" of rain today.

Already reached the point of 38 here.  Didn't really think we'd get frost tonight, but it's starting to look like it could be a possibility.

Bz still holding well above +15.  Looks like I'm out for the auroras, as it's about bed time for me.  Good luck to those of you lucky enough to stay up late tonight.  Still could be a great show once the IMF flips.  Or if it flips I should say lol.

Cedar Rapids officially hit 35 this morning.  It may have hit 36 at my house.  There was no frost, even in the open field near my house.  It probably helped that everything was wet going into the night.  Mason City and Waterloo dropped to the low 30s with frost.

There don't appear to be any additional frost chances for the next couple weeks.
