IntenseBlizzard2014
Hard to believe that this happened 5 days before I was born. It's strange that my mother doesn't know anything about this storm.
weathermedic
I was working in central Nassau at the time (East Meadow) There was some rain and gusty winds. The farther east you went, the worse it was. It was a very compact storm and moved very fast.

For anyone west of the Twin Forks it was very unremarkable.
Jefflaw77
I remember it being a rainy day - w/ winds in the vicinity of 30-50mph probably. Gloria was fresh in my mind as it was only 6 years prior. Block Island I think had a 125mph gust. 23 years gone in almost an instant (as you get older) wow! Maxwell03
Bob deserves an award for how amazing its satellite presentation was at NJ's latitude.
Rjay
For anyone west of the Twin Forks it was very unremarkable. Heavy rain with little wind. I remember it well even though it was a borefest. I also remember thinking while watching TWC that I've never seen a rain shield that big before (since I was 8 I actually probably thought "wow that's the most rain I've ever seen" while looking at the radar). I was a few years younger at the time but no one I know really remembers it in terms of impact it had on Nassau County, and I don't remember any of it. The only places on Long Island it had real impacts on were the Twin Forks-the wind was especially worse on the east side of Bob, and consequently the surge. As it was a small, quick moving storm, the effects were not long lasting. It was like you said, a rainy and breezy day not unlike any other day we have even a minor coastal storm. I remember a few trees down in my town. Other then that some heavy rain and the biggest shore break I have ever seen at jones beach to this day. I was young too but it's one of my strongest weather memories as a kid. I remember tracking it on the old tracking maps and being super excited. The waves here in Long Beach today were absolutely gorgeous from what I saw (I had to work )
