Harbourton
I got blasted for questioning the major pattern change topic a few days ago, but that comes with the territory. But I still hold out hope for the first two weeks of January,if not epic.

RedSky
Patience is a virtue. Last year was a late bloomer Nope last year had half a dozen snow events in December. Only one pattern fail, what would be concerning is out towards New Years Eve it gets pushed back another 10 days because then it becomes talk of salvaging the second half of winter. Yea, last December was solid. Cold & snow. This December was an egg cooked raw. Hopefully we don't get to January 1st and the pattern still looks empty. I remain optimistic going into January, but January should always be a cold/snow month. Historically getting very little snow in December typically does not = a snow winter
famartin
04-05 turned out decent after a pretty meager start. 77-78 and 78-79 also turned out good after meager starts. So, its *possible* to recover, but odds are not in favor of it if you simply base the odds on how December turned out.
Birds~69
I'm more of several 2-4"/3-6" events rather than one 12+" which could still happen. We had a couple minor events. Still early, not even winter yet. A rainy/mild Christmas eve does suck though.

We got a somewhat rockin November this year. 4-5 "events" or snowy days our way... Last January the freezer door shut and didn't open till mid march. Weather is going to do what weather does. How quickly we forget the Lions Vs. Eagles snow bowl on Dec. 5th... 8.2" of snow at the airport we were supposed to get nothing that was a great day!!! RedSky
At least today feels like snow and winter so that's something... Hate the way Christmas Eve has trended warmer and the cold has moderated and comes later.

Eagles snow bowl on Dec. 5th... 8.2" of snow at the airport we were supposed to get nothing that was a great day!!! Definitely not forgotten....(it was the 8th actually) - it started out an awesome winter in style. Followed by almost 4" 2 days later. I think for the folks up north there was some head scratching going on since the totals for the 1st 2 events weren't as high. This winter has started out more traditionally. May have been the hardest rates all winter: (The trees in the back are 300 feet away)

The myth of December 5th has people ascribing all early December snow to that date Funny how snow two years in a row on the same date became a great mythology

RedSky
Maybe we are turning the corner as the second cutter next week is evolving into a frontal passage with some nice cold behind it. Pacific ridging looks great and that nasty firehose turns off by next weekend.

Dec 5th 2014 was suppose to be a MECS, haha, instead we got and inch and half of 38 degree rain. I love this winter, I hope your enjoying your stay here, we could be having MECS after MECS if you stayed. Haha Just kidding.

Fishinfool
Surprisingly chilly now. It is 27 right on the oceanfront. Almost dead calm too. Clearing skies and no wind allowed for good radiational cooling. Was down in Cape May yesterday wrapping up the boat for the year and the dead calm yesterday was amazing. It was chilly but not bad without any wind. Was surprised there was ice in one of our coolers, must have been pretty cold the last few days. Finished up and temps dropped quick.
