GD0815
It really isn't rocket science, 86% of your mean annual snowfall is not awful or "sucks" - #Climo If you weren't lazy you'd see that extreme cold winters on record at Philadelphia are NOT a direct correlation to significantly above AVE seasonal snowfall. In fact it's less than a 60-40% correlation so very cold winters with mediocre (slightly below / above AVE) snowfall are not an anomaly rather a distinct "disappointing" possibility. Of the top 20 coldest winters on record at Philadelphia 17 have snowfall data, out of those 17 years 10 had significantly above AVE snowfall while 7 had near average snow. - #Climo squared um thanks for making my point for me. so out of the 17 winters 10 are significantly above average and 7 about average, then that is absolutely a correlation. since you have the data how many of those 17 winters were below 83% the seasonal average? I'm guessing not many (if any) or you would have mentioned that. I wouldn't even respond, but if you are going to respond with something like "it really isn't rocket science", try not to refute the rest of your argument with the data you cite. KamuSnow
That's not a bad looking map for 11/13. Agreed - in fact to me it's just right. I'm in one of those areas where there hasn't been much correlation over the years between significant early season snowfalls and a decent winter to follow. Harbourton
The growing season ended on the 1st. But yes that is correct. Quote from NJ.com - “Unfortunately, the best period for this is 2 to 5 a.m., when most people are asleep,” said Mitchell Gaines, a National Weather Service meteorologist at Mount Holly. “So for those of us who might actually enjoy seeing some snow, it won’t even be that.” No problem alarm is set. lol
