Think Julys around here have been wild and wacky in regard to temperatures?

Something like our record winter will stick in the general publics minds for a long time, but this crazy roller coaster of extremes in July is probably more of a year-to-year thing. The same people who are like "omg it feels like FALL in July" thought the globe was on fire 2 years ago. But when you look at the hottest/coldest lists...its crazy! If anything, one of the more quirky things in recent years, records-wise.

 

SINCE 2000

3 Julys in the top 11 coldest (2009 - #3....2014 - #8....2000 - #11)

4 Julys in the top 11 hottest (2011 - #1....2012 - #3....2010 - #10....2002....#11)

 

Its even CRAZIER, as you said, that since 2009...we have....

2009 - 3rd coldest

2010 - 11th hottest

2011 - 1st hottest

2012 - 3rd hottest

2014 - 8th coldest

 

Its not like records started in 1980 . This is since 1874! Crazy stuff.
