The_Global_Warmer
With a peak of 1776FT. It will be great to get OBS and web cams up there for NYC folks during winter events. Is it possible snow could fall up there while rain is say below 1000ft? It would be pretty cool to be up there and see the changeover point. I've seen something similar in Portland, from the 26th floor. Wet snow out the window but chunky rain on the street.

I too would love to see obs from up there. All it is though is a mast/antenna so it's unlikely. Better bet is from the roof height at 1350. I'm sure there have been and will continue to be plenty of snow storms at the height that rain down at the surface.
mob1
There was a storm in which the top of the empire state building got 2 feet of very wet snow while it was raining at street level. I don't remember the date though.

Drz1111
My father worked on the 100th floor of Tower 2 for about a decade when I was growing up. It frequently - several times a winter - would be snowing out his window while it rained down below.
