Heavy rain right on my doorstep now, I am at work about a mile from PGV on the north side of Greenville in Pitt Co......doesnt look quite as bad as when it was over Wake and JoCo but we dont need any rain at all much less a quick 1-2" dump

Hey man, did you get in on the action?

Around a inch or so area wide with a few higher totals but it really kinda ran out of steam which overall is a good thing, the week of no rain and drier air looks nice hope it actually happens.

Cool. According to the hydro site, I got close to 2". The big stuff missed me just north. The intensity of that activity was surprising.

86 over 70 with lots of sun so the hot and humid stuff is back.......and there is a west wind so that usually nixs the chances of afternoon storms pretty effectively . So I finally get a weekend without rain to work in the yard and its so damn hot I don't wanna mess around in it lol....

Though they are getting hammered down near ILM right now maybe there is hope this afternoon after all the atmosphere is pretty unstable but not much of a trigger if we can get some outflow boundries off those storms to move north though.......

Headed out to mow the back yard; grass and weeds grow fast when recent rains come in inches, instead of tenths.  They've upped our chances to  70% for tomorrow, and maybe something to look forward to as well, per this afternoon's HWO

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.A POTENT UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH THE MOUNTAINS FROMTHE WEST TONIGHT...THEN TRACK EAST ACROSS THE REGION ON MONDAY.SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN ADVANCE OF THEAPPROACHING DISTURBANCE. AN ISOLATED STORM COULD BECOME SEVERE...WITH A PRIMARY THREAT OF DAMAGING WINDS. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALLWILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

Hope this calms down a little before getting over this way tomorrow!

Several hundred miles to our west...but this cluster of thunderstorms in west Tennessee had over 700 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in a 5-minute period! The storm is located northeast of Memphis and closing in on the city of Jackson, TN. Anyone driving across I-40 between Memphis and Nashville at this time would be going through this. Not a good time to be outside at all in this area!!! Each of the little white "+" and "-" marks indiciates a cloud-to-ground lightning strike!

So far today, rainfall across our region of Virgina and the mid-Atlantic has been very spotty with all of the thunderstorms of significance remaining west and southwest of our area. The current regional radar shows that Georgia and also we... See More
