downeastnc Posted August 16, 2014 Share Posted August 16, 2014 86 over 70 with lots of sun so the hot and humid stuff is back.......and there is a west wind so that usually nixs the chances of afternoon storms pretty effectively . So I finally get a weekend without rain to work in the yard and its so damn hot I don't wanna mess around in it lol.... Though they are getting hammered down near ILM right now maybe there is hope this afternoon after all the atmosphere is pretty unstable but not much of a trigger if we can get some outflow boundries off those storms to move north though....... US National Weather Service Blacksburg VA15 minutes ago Several hundred miles to our west...but this cluster of thunderstorms in west Tennessee had over 700 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in a 5-minute period! The storm is located northeast of Memphis and closing in on the city of Jackson, TN. Anyone driving across I-40 between Memphis and Nashville at this time would be going through this. Not a good time to be outside at all in this area!!!
