Cfa
This rain is reminding me of August 2007(?) and August 14th, 2011. Just relentless.
jm1220
Rain ending here in Long Beach but it looks like we got drenched. Just east of here had it worse but we probably have over 3" of rain. There was some street flooding as well.

danstorm
With all due respect...and taking into account the fact that you are a red tagger...though you can surely offer me many lessons on synoptic meteorology...try not to offer me too many lessons on the climatology of the Eastern U.S. This is a synoptic event, no doubt. LI does well when the flow has a strong easterly component. When it's a SW or S wind, as is typical with approaching summertime fronts, Stripmallville more often than not receives less rain. You don't really need a red tag to make that point (BTW I don't work in the field so no need to offer any respect, I'm a hobbyist like y'all). I do admire the dedication to the climatological details, though, and of course, the fierce homerism.

Its a pretty short record...dating back to the 1980's...the snowfall record is badly messed up prior to about 2008...not quite as sure about the rainfall one. jm1220
Massive cutoff towards Eastern LI as well. Looks like from Shirley/Mastic east had little rain, maybe an inch of rain. At home given how hard the rain was coming down around 6:30AM and the fact we had over 3" as of 4am, we very likely made it over 4" and may have approached 5". My Long Beach record for 90 minutes to 2 hrs was 5.15 on 6-23-95. The daily record was 10.87 on 8-14-11. We lost our drinking water during the 95 event for a day or two as a water pipe was undermined and broke.
