Beautiful place, but no thanks....like I said unless you are in the Sierra. I was just in Napa 3 years ago and saw some landmarks that I remember really damaged from this.

Lol....you get the same quakes in the Sierra. But 300 inches of snow a year eases the pain.

SFO area really is beautiful and more my style. I'm not a LA person.

I agree. I bet I'd still be there if I was in the Bay Area vs Los Angeles.

Veterans Day weekend 1985. We went up to June Lake (me knowing full well something big was coming). Driving up the east valley on US 395 south winds were gusting. We had this place we always stayed at away from the craziness of Mammoth Lakes. Elevation where we we're staying 8000 feet. The next day we drive up through Tioga Pass into the high country at Yosemite. I tell the ranger this will be the last day the pass is opened and he looks at me like I had 9 heads. As afternoon wore on it got colder and colder. I was up most of the night looking out the window. Finally around 4am a few flakes. 14 hours later we had 30 inches down and snowing hard still. It had been a lot of years since I'd seen a legit weenie event. That storm set the wheels in motion and within 6 years I was back in Boston.

Exactly.

This would make a lot of negatives worth it...whatever those negatives would be.  A bucket list item for me is to experience one of those huge Sierra snowstorms.  Experiencing one of those like 4-feet in 24 hours type storms where you're getting 0.3" liquid equivalent every hour, all day long, in a caking snowfall would be something to cherish as a weather weenie.

Find the right pattern some winter and just get nailed all season long...with deep snow lasting through the summer, lol.  I can't believe this would be July, no matter how high in elevation it is, its still crazy.

Ha, that had to be cool. Funny how you can trace an event back that changed your way of thinking such as that. And yeah PF....talk about upslope lol. Nothing like a moisture laden jet slamming against the mtns at 100kts.

oh, to see June Lake again.  What a terrific place. I camped there every summer until I left for graduate school in Arizona.  Loved hiking snow covered trails near Virginia Lake up Tioga Pass.

Such beautiful country. I remember hiking in Tuolemne Meadows in the summer of 1978...my son soon to be 37 wasn't walking so he was on my back in a pack...a beautiful scene as you can remember. I miss that area but the whites and greens are quite beautiful in their own rite.

Well this is what we were afraid of. all you weenies that wanted fall in August got it..and now as thought..we pay the piper..Just when we want cooler weather and get dry for football, school and soccer..endless summer arrives. Now the holiday weekend is a humid torch

- HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS AND WET WEATHER RETURN FOR THE WEEKEND

SO IN SUMMARY...EXPECTING A WARMER-THAN-AVERAGE PATTERN INTO EARLY

SEPTEMBER. AS IT HAS BEEN THE CASE ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC AS OF
LATE...THE NE CONUS COULD NOW FIND ITSELF PARKED BENEATH THE STALLED
BOUNDARY OF AIRMASSES ALONG WHICH INDIVIDUAL WAVES WOULD YIELD AN
ACTIVE- AND WET-WEATHER PATTERN.

I love you but you're an idiot. The holiday weekend is considered the last fling of summer.

vacations are over and bad weather is coming

September is the best month of the year for the kind of weather you detest........perfect. Many people choose to go on vacation in September to enjoy themselves without crowds. Not everybody still has children living at home. Nobody besides you think about bad weather coming on Labor Day. Normal people think warm days and cool nights for the next 6 weeks......Perfect for living life

It's considered the start of autumn..Everyone is kind of downtrodden and sad..reflecting on where did summer go..as fall and busy season is back upon them, vacations are over and bad weather is coming

Well school starts today in my house so it's a moot point. Personally I like it nice and warm until Columbus Day.

BTV knows where its at...cold and snow lol. Also, SLK is a pit. It's nearing 60F at the summits yet the ASOS has radiated to 42F.

&& Near term /until 6 PM this evening/... as of 713 am EDT Monday...updated to capture current observation...which features a 42 degree temperature at slk. Otherwise...sharp inversion in place with Whiteface at 57...which should weaken quickly this morning with temperatures warming through the 60s/70s and into the 80s by this afternoon. Fog will burn off over the next 1 to 2 hours. Another beautiful day if you like plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures (I would prefer the cold and snow)...with surface ridge overhead.

I don't know anyone that thinks or lives that way..That's not the way the world works..But if that's what gets you thru the day..have at it
