Oh we'll probably get a heat wave over the eastern conus to end out the month ...proving once again that these types of persistent long-lead biases always occur with the worst plausible prediction over timing...

Then, it'll break and we'll get an unusual cool snap in mid September to get all the summer bashers (and you know who you've been) lubed up, smug and ready to go.  Then, the erstwhile 9 month pattern bias that begin with a blocky western N/A winter and never ended, only shifted into a summer version, finally shifts toward a new paradigm that's about as disappointing as the over-forecast warm ENSO.

By the way ... wondering if we are as early with leaf in as we were late with leaf out.  We had a lot of smoke-blue-sky days dimming solar amid a local time-scaled coolish climate bias, and though that cool bias is actually more perception than truth (going by empirical fact), perhaps the foliage is still somehow slightly stressed enough.  Lots of color showing up along 190 in central Mass prior to Aug 15.  Nice little ancillary Ginxie slap upside Kevin's head...

Yes those 2 days where a little smoke filled the stratosphere has really done wonders in accelerating color change on Aug 14

Yeah, where did that come from? Woke up at 4AM to torrential rain, lightning and what may have possibly been hail hitting the windows. Got another 1/4 inch to keep it moist.

Disturbance aloft moving through. Models hinted at the chance of showers, but just enough instability I guess.
