Ginx snewx
Its dry. I dont think some drought estimates do it justice in some cases. My area has been pretty dry. South and east of me has been a bit better, but it's dry around here. I don't like the "what if" perspective, but man if we had not gotten that July 4th tropical system, a lot of folks would be in really rough shape not really http://groundwaterwatch.usgs.gov/AWLSites.asp?S=414831072173002&ncd=
CapturedNature
No drought conditions here. July was pretty wet but we've only had 0.34" so far this month. Tomorrow should bring us back up again. Even in the "drought" pictures I've seen I still see plenty of green. Looks like pretty typical late summer stuff that we get occasionally. PF, how long are you in our neck of the woods? About 48 hours, lol. Was hoping to play 18 or 36 holes tomorrow but not looking likely. I always love coming down here though. There are parts here in NE CT that remind me of VT, dairy farms, rock walls, rolling albeit smaller hills. Nearby Bigelow Hollow is a fun canoe. It's funny I still think of this as "coming out to the country", even living up in Stowe.

Connecticut Appleman
I'm hoping that tomorrow's rain pans out. It is quite dry around here - we have received less than an inch of rain during the past month.
Nate
Its dry. I dont think some drought estimates do it justice in some cases. My area has been pretty dry. I don't like the "what if" perspective, but man if we had not gotten that July 4th tropical system, a lot of folks would be in really rough shape Yeah, those maps posted earlier don't do it justice for backyards. It's showing me in 1.5-2" for the last 30-days. Not according to my rain gauge. I've had 0.91" in the last 30 days and even when it did rain, it was very small amounts (under 0.4") that just dried up the next day. I have established forsythia bushes that have wilted leaves. What's interesting is how sharp the edges are to it. I work in Norwood, lawns are much greener over there and that's 7 miles straight line. On the other side, driving Rte 3 from Weymouth down to Duxbury, you can see how quickly it goes from parched to green. Just hoping I get a good soaking out of this, but that's been forecasted so many times in the last month and it hasn't happened, so I won't believe it until I see it. moneypitmike
I have fungi growing in the lawn. Quite a few shrooms here as well. I'm not sure if its because of the continual robust growth of the lawn this year or what, but it seems like I've won my 3-4 year battle with the Japanese Knotweed. I really didn't think it would be done.

moneypitmike
Cloud tops cooling nicely. Someone is really going to get dumped on. Fire hose initiated. 9" in S NJ. Looks like central LI toward HVN is in the line for the highest returns right now. Looks pretty meh for western MA with the rains passing mostly to the east at this point. No oysters on the beach for LL.
