moneypitmike
Any chance supercells form out in front of the line? I remain worried that the less impressive stuff in front of the line near Albany and Ostego Co (?) will steal the thunder--so to speak--of the main line. 84.6/72 LOL. Two different takes.... Tornadomachine
Any chance supercells form out in front of the line? Unlikely. You need strong shear for that (winds changing direction and/or speed with height), and that really isn't present today, as this SPC data shows. Certainly is instability, however. Tornadomachine
Woo hah, getting close to the 3000s for SB CAPE now. Bring it on. Lapse rates in the mid levels still suffering, but I think we can say that isn't so much of an issue.

Deserves watching, and is probably much more likely than supercellular events.

Seems unlikely given the impressive instability that these well established storms have access to, but only time will tell.

moneypitmike
For the hell of it, I fired up the generator for the first time since winter. It started right up--stale gas and all. powderfreak
Not sure how this will come out, but here's a panoramic shot looking at Mount Mansfield's east slope as that severe storm came over the mountain from the northwest. It was like a shelf cloud getting interrupted by the terrain, but the rain cooled air was racing down the mountain slope while also expanding southward down the ridge. Professional Lurker
Can clearly see an outflow boundary right near the Albany radar. What, if anything, does that mean for us here in GC? I mean, looking at the cells and lines forming ahead of the main show, it almost looks like all of the storms out ahead were formed by outflow from the main line. ... Am I wrong? moneypitmike
Thunder. We've been having quite a bit to both my northwest and southwest. I fear a 7-10 split. Shocking. 80.0/
