Can I ask why you feel like you have to get involved in everything? You pretend you are friends with me, Ryan., Will, Scooter etc and then you go onto Randy's board and back stab us, bad mouth us and seemingly have nothing better to do with your life than talk about what people are doing on American. I just don't understand it. Perhaps a public explanation here would help clarify why you do all of this.

lol you seem to think if we post a dbm we are talking bad about you? I want to make sure everyone here knows its bull****, just cause we post there does not mean we are backstabbers or talking about SNE. Hope that public explanation clarifies that.

As per SOP in summer, we get a few nice low dew days, and then a couple more humid days. It definitely felt humid up here today with between 60-65F Td's, after several days in the 40s and 50s. Now tonight will be a mild one before the cold front tomorrow, then some storms, and a more pleasant airmass. Rinse and repeat with a few comfortable days then a couple humid ones before the next FROPA.

I knew the 1971-2000 was 17.7 but I had written down the new "normal" was 17. Did I get the wrong info?

I think so. I pulled it off the NCDC's web site. If you go this link: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cdo-web/datatools/normals, choose Connecticut then BDL, and when it finishes loading the monthly normal temperature graph, click the "Show Station Report" link in the upper right hand corner of the graph. The first table on that page will have the average number of 90+ days on the far right of the first table.

How does a normal affect the average of the number of 90+ degree days?  I could see if the average was lower, but I can't see how the new normals would affect the average.

I thought it was around 17 as well.

I'm not sure because if you do the math and take the straight average it works out to be 17.1 as there were 512 90+ days in the 1981-2010 period. Then again a lot of the normals aren't just averages, so that's probably where the difference lies.

Made it up to 90F here

Nice... 86F at both MVL and MPV as I'm sure you are aware, lol.  I'm a little surprised MVL wasn't a little warmer...usually in these cases they meet in the middle (like BTV 90, MVL 88, MPV 86) given the roughly 500ft of elevation differences between each.

i dont have any real issues with the way this forum is run or how people post. I have been here almost a year now, and i have learned a lot and enjoy conversing with other people who share the passion of weather.

I think the moderation is pretty fair, and taken seriously during heavy traffic times especially in the winter. If there is a winter storm coming stuff is deleted fast, and most people know the deal and keep banter in the banter thread and discussion in the discussion thread. This board seems to be busier in the winter by a substantial margin, and the moderation goes according to that.

This forum is also probably the most active on the site in the summer, with still quite a few regular posters which is great. I dont see a huge issue with banter spilling over into the discussion threads especially if its weather related even if its semantics over dew points and temps. If its boring weather like today, and there is no real threat posed to anywhere in the subforum, i dont think its a big deal.

I think this place steps it up in the winter when it should be, and lets things go in the summer, which is also probably how it should be. Lets face it, i dont think this place would be as fun if it was severely moderated year round. I get a good laugh at some of the exchanges that go on in here

I read and agree. Fwiw.

Man today was warmer than I expected, can't wait for a nice weekend.

Yeah, sneaky swamp this afternoon.

Sweated my cayones off building a deck addition. Looking for to the return of low dews this weekend. Lol at you guys making a big deal about Kevin, cripes I can remember when nobody posted all summer long.

Downtown Greenfield hit 86/72.  The brew house was pleasant with the kettle cranking all morning and afternoon.

:stun:

That makes more sense.  I'd expect it to be the average number of 90+ degree days in a given year as opposed the "normal" number of 90° days.

Daily averages are interesting because you can see the variation in a given period.  You'd think it's more uniform but it's not.  That's where the normals come in handy to smooth out those differences.

Maximizing time and effort spent by Meteorologists on Kevin-Centric discussions is his primary function here.

Since it has been this way for several years, one has to conclude that you and the other moderators of this forum like it.
