Eh, might be just SE SNE. These little lows coming up in the warm season are tough to model. Sometimes models are too overzealous.

August 2012 had one. BOS was to escape but we got hit. I was at the game that night and they called it after 5 and 1/2.

I remember that one. Sometimes they happen...iirc that was a legit low. In the summer when advections processes are weak..you really need a formidable low, or something like a warm front moving north and close enough to bring that convergence over the area.

Sad times as we approach the climatological peak for temperatures in the area and no big heat is in sight. It will all be downhill before long. May the damaging dews soon rest in peace.

We'll heat climo goes down, but is there any climo on dews? I almost feel like dews lag behind and get worse in August.

There has to be some lag there, especially as the ocean temps are still rising for a bit.

Edit:

According to Weatherspark, the climo dew high for the Hartford area levels off around 68F from late July into early August.

I can't believe it's July 17 and I've hit 90F once and that was only for a few hours.

Same here.  BDR has had one 90 degree day the whole season.  Can't imagine BDL, ORH, BOS NYC are much better.   Not that big of a deal overall but compared to the summer weather of the past 4 years, it's a lot less than those torrid summers.

BDL gets sneaky warm in the valley, but just 8 90+ days there. 1 in May, 1 in June and 6 so far this month.

Edit to change 5 to 6 for July 90 degree occurrences.

Nice night!.

perfect, took a swim late. Full moon July coastal pond mosquito hatches suck but also coincide with worm hatches, great striper fishing. I caught the biggest largemouth bass of my life Tuesday while floating on a tube. July full moons are certainly great outdoor times.

BDL averages 5.8 90+ days in July, so actually a little ahead of normal for the month if they've had 5 already. Through July 17 the normal is about 7, so BDL is dead on normal for 90+ days. August averages 4.0 and September 0.8.

EDIT: Looks like 6 this month, so 8 total.

BDL tarmac is the only place in Ct with more than 2 90s and nobody finds that suspicious?

Not really. I've gotten above 90 three times and I've had a number of 88s and 89s.

A bit of latitude helps them when the sea breeze front is coming north up the valley.
