David Reimer
The NOAA aircraft seems to be having difficulties as it's in a holding pattern south of the storm. Another Air Force aircraft is inbound and over Florida.

turtlehurricane
My analysis of Hurricane Arthur... Hurricane Arthur heading towards the outer banks of North Carolina with 90+ mph winds
wxeyeNH
Correct. Here's a photo from the Frying Pan Tower posted about 30 minutes ago. doesn't look like that display will read more than 2 digits. Wonder if 99mph is the max it will show. A matter of fact if the average is 89mph I would expect gusts over 99mph if this sensor is accurate
David Reimer
The NOAA aircraft has scrubbed the mission and is heading home. The Air Force aircraft should be in the storm within an hour.

Seawind
Just a weather observer but I was wondering if the interaction which is occurring with the cold front could accelerate the transition of Arthur becoming extra tropical?

PSUBlizzicane2007
I'm really liking what I'm seeing on the E and SE sides of the eyewall. Some solid returns on the radar that are increasing. I'd like to see these spread to the NE side as well, and for the eyewall as a whole to consolidate more. I'm starting to think that, unless it wobbles towards land again, Arthur has a bit more time over water. Depending on how much more it organizes between now and when the recon arrives and does a center fix, we can probably expect a minimum pressure around 970ish with the next pass. dan11295
Looks like the eyewall is open to the W? If so we are probably at landfall intensity now.

Juliancolton
The final visible images of the day are always the most impressive. Couple that with formidable towers going up in the NE eyewall and you've got yourself a nice looking system.
