Uggh, the spc made me a little hopeful for some severe action... But I guess not...just another day of watching crazy severe weather to the north and west, while I get nothing but sun and clouds here on Long Island...

It is not the least bit surprising my friend. The most ive had this year thus far us some thunder and some lightning with some very brief downpours. Getting excited for severe weather today and tommorow is pushing it

Ahhh dont know paul. Remember i live in the convective graveyard

Tommorow if it comes to fruition would certainly bring some training like today

We have elevated instability, so we have a chance. Albeit, it's hard to count on convection happening unless it's practically overhead here.

Looks like that line will head north of our area. Our hope is tommorow delivering if it chooses too, ive seen many SPC varying risks issued that never came to fruition so by 12 tommorow we should see if indeed we actually get concentrated storms including coastal locals

Going to be some impressive rainfall tallies up in Orange county with the training going on....where have all the interior folks gone?

Got caught in a blinding rainstorm in Highland driving to my son's baseball game in Walden.  Several cars pulled over as the visibility was next to nothing and it's very hilly, so there was a lot of water rushing down the roads.  Back home now as the game was, of course, rained out, and there has been pretty constant thunder for the past hour or so, but the storms look to be just south of me now.

Quick question, as the first set of storms rolled through, I noticed a lot of lower clouds that were definitely moving west, away from the direction of the storm, and they also appeared to have some vertical motion as well.  Is that due to wind shear?  There was a lot of cloud to ground lightning, but little wind or rain.
