Local guy saying the hottest weather so far this summer is coming next week.  Does look like a big warmup in store.

The farther west you go, the warmer it gets... Even then its nothing that impressive.

I think my 90-less summer streak continues into August.

Over. Another 50º. Take it to the bank (clock).

We made a good run at it this morning as winds went calm for a few hours.  I think we would've had it with another hour of darkness.  Airmass aloft looks a touch warmer than last night so it's likely going to be difficult to go sub-50.  Only way I could see it happening is if we get a longer period of uninterrupted radiational cooling.

It has been a repeat occurrence this season for these fantasy range heat waves to moderate and remain shunted to the SW as we get closer towards the time frame.

So we'll see...

CLE only had a high of 67 today, quite possibly the coldest for the major climate sites in the US and quite impressive considering how far south it is comparatively. Skies really cleared out late this afternoon. Impressive to have sunny skies and temps around 64 in mid July.

Yep, you're right. Definitely dropped as winds went calm. Alas, I'll stick with a repeat for tomorrow morning.

We made it to 73 today.  Great day out there, that's for sure.  Looks like we might get close to 90 on Monday or Tuesday of next week, but the rest of the week looks likes low-mid 80's ...  I'll take it.

Currently 63 out there with calm winds.....

So we didn't break the record low maximum high in Detroit today.

The official high was 71*F.

Of course not...in classic summer style, we missed the record by 1F. Much of SE MI didnt get out of the 60s. High per local wunderground thermometer was 68.8F here, and with hardly a peak of sun through the billowy clouds, it truly felt like Fall all day, moreso than yesterday. The record low max of 70F was set in 1896 & 1892, so 71F makes it the coldest high temp that anyone alive has seen in Detroit on July 16th

57 right now, one degree warmer than yesterday at the same time.  Winds are calm and the surface high is in a more favorable position than last night.  We'll see what the new ob has in a couple minutes.

56 now at LAF.  Starting to get more confident that we'll make it into the 40s.

Not so much. Clouds rolled in around 5:00AM. Couldn't even get as cool as yesterday morning.

EDIT: hit 50º again. Such a tease.

Fair number of 40's reported elsewhere in the state though.
