powderfreak
At least we'll finish the day with sun, cooler temps, and a nice NW wind. Just had 26mph here. Already at a new low for the day...68/66 You were right on those lows...this morning had a low of 71F at MVL (first morning of the year failing to get to 69F or lower), but now we are down to 63F and still falling...so the 71F got erased easily. 63/58...guess summer is over. tamarack
Only 0.14" from the FP and no thunder (none since 8/14 despite several svr watches/warnings in that period.) That brings my total for the past 3+ weeks to 0.59". Upper 40s this AM, refreshing after yesterday's 70+ dews.
ApacheTrout
what happened to yesterday's front? The forecast called for 80% showers, 0.50 to 0.75 inches. Returned late last evening, zippo in the gage.

powderfreak
Point forecast calls for a low of 42F tonight...I'm a little skeptical seeing as daytime Td's were 47-50F. We need some drier air to advect in if we are going to realize a crisp night. I do see some lower 40s and upper 30s dews upstream though.
eekuasepinniW
For Coos County: Tonight Mostly clear. Patchy fog and frost after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

tamarack
HUL 34, FVE 35. Thinking frost advis in Aroostook for tomorrow morning. Got down near 40 at my place, coolest of the season so far but hardly noteworthy as my 16-yr avg for Sept 8 is 71/48.

Nittany88
The median first freeze date at SLK was yesterday the 7th, and is today at West Burke, VT. And actually if we don't get a freeze by the 9th at SLK and 12th at West Burke/Sutton, we're out of the 25-75th percentile.

powderfreak
Was just looking back at the Dendrite-IZG-LEW snow event on 12/29/13. That was a cool event. That was an abortion is what that was. It snowed hard in S.VT and some of the ski resorts down there had 10" while it rained up here. I was thinking 2-4/3-5" up here but it rained instead. I was thinking 2-4/3-5" up here but it rained instead. The good stuff continued north beyond LEW. Forecast for my area was 4-8" (models had 0.5"-0.6" qpf) but nice dendrites and cool surface temps (upper teens) resulted in 11" of 18:1 fluff. Very weird that such a well below freezing event here was rain 100+ miles to the west. First sub-40 this morning, about 38. Baby steps.

They can hover near a temp all night, then just before sunrise drop 5 degrees without even trying.
