JC-CT
A very informed, fact-filled read from the Kansas City Star: http://www.kansascity.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/lewis-diuguid/article568422/Violent-tornadoes-likely-outcome-of-climate-change.html My favorite aspect of the article is that the author is careful not to jump to conclusions. People are having to contend with the cleanup after tornadoes like the one that hit Pilger. But there are also more violent hurricanes, longer droughts and accompanying fires. Switching to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal have to be a mandate for humanity.
blizzard1024
This is absolute BS. Climate does not equal weather. What is it going to take to stop this insanity? There is so much ignorance out there about this stuff. Weather is weather. Climate is climate. There is NO credible evidence that large tornadoes [or ****just insert latest weather disaster**** ] is increasing or decreasing.
ORH_wxman
Unfortunately, mainstream journalism has gotten quite lazy when writing about weather/climate stuff.
nflwxman
This is pretty bad stuff. The evidence for increased tornado formation is weak based on statistics and physical reasoning. Someone needs to come up with a sound hypothesis on how more tornadoes will be formed with AGW. More heat and moisture does not translate to higher tornado formation with out many other factors. To date, nothing has been terribly convincing.
Hoosier
I loathe stuff like this. I want to see someone write about how the 75 degree, partly cloudy May day in Chicago is caused by climate change. Wait, that's not as exciting.
