Watched the storms that fired south of Dixon grow from some fairly benign looking cumulus congestus to a severe thunderstorm as I headed east down I-88 and then route 30.  Could see the first of the rain shaft come down and then it only grew from there.  Should hopefully be a pretty cool time lapse, which I'll try to post later on tonight.

Fun little backyard outing over in north-central IL earlier.  As I was heading east you could see the cumulus bubbling up quickly, and before long rain shafts started to appear.  The one cell quickly grew to a pretty strong storm with some marginal hail.  Wasn't anything too crazy or anything, but always cool to watch a storm take off from birth.

Your time lapse videos are sweet, cyclone. Like you, I love watching storms develop and your video really brings out the morphology that is difficult to see in real time.

Thank you sir.  Yeah even on days when storms are sort of meh it's always interesting to watch convection take off and evolve.  Really never gets old.
