JoMo
Hey JoMo, Did you happen to get a screen capture of it? Or anything I can pass along to the WFO here for verification? No, sir. I did not. I did check out his Facebook page and he has a picture that states it was 2-3 miles north of Melvin, IA and that it was very brief and on the ground less than a minute before dissipating. Jayhawkers
I've seen a lot of incorrect assertions that both tornadoes were responsible for the damage in Pilger, it was only the first one. typical crappy reporting/ media... Trying to get the story out as quick as possible w/o fact checking. Happens everytime we get something like this, except usually it deals with fatalities. Quincy
Wednesday looks more interesting than SPC/Hi-res models would suggest, per pattern recognition. Western Minnesota is worth watching. Outflow will be in place from morning rain, promoting good low level turning. LLJ from 925 to 850 mb will be more impressive than today. Speed shear and turning will be good up to 500 mb. Start to get into veer-back up toward 200 mb; however, it looks like a nice set-up overall. I'd expect morning rain to depart. New storms may go in the Dakotas early due to lift near the upper low and cooler mid-level temps. However a gap is noted between that rain, and rain in the Upper Midwest, over western Minnesota. Should that verify, plus Goldilocks 700 mb temps, the door is open to destabilization in a favorable environment. Just took a peek at the CIPS top severe analogs and those hit Wednesday really hard. tornadotony
Might have two on the ground again based on velocity (also still seeing a very deep TDS). I don't know that that's a TDS. Not saying it isn't, but it's far from certain.
andyhb
I don't know that that's a TDS. Not saying it isn't, but it's far from certain. It appears very well correlated with the velocity couplet, although it is quite far away from the radar.

Chicago Storm
You would think they would issue a warning for Camp Crook ( I don't see any warning box to the east) Why? The storm is drifting north, and Camp Crook is east.
Thundersnow12
Here our some of our favorite pictures from yesterday. Victor took pictures (over 900 to be exact, whoops) along with go pro video and I took normal HD video. Videos will be up hopefully tomorrow or the next day. Played the chase as a whole perfectly, didn't make one wrong decision and played it safe staying SE of the tornado as it went through Pilger and had a great view with an amazing clear slot. The got to watch to our north as we had two violent tornadoes on the ground. I have video of the first big wedge before Pilger as it was wrapped it rain but have the left and right edge on video. Much more to come in coming days.
