JC-CT
New tornado forming out ahead of the large, rain-wrapped wedge. What a monster, it just keeps putting em down! touchdown
1900hurricane
Not so sure they have merged. Radar still picking up three(!) distinct couplets. Rain probably obscuring each individual tornado. Effective STP peaks in excess of 10 upstream of the cell according to RAP analysis.

Derecho!
So will the new stuff north of Norfolk do anything or will this be yet another one-cell (but epically intense) "outbreak"? Seems to be a lot of those the last few years.
Stebo
I just measured the width of the TDS on the 0.5 scan it is over 6 miles wide with the 2 circulations combined. Simply unreal.

CoastalWx
That may be some of the most extreme instability combined with that shear that I've ever seen. Winds SSE at 50kts located at 850mb. Game, set, match right there.
BuffaloWeather
Large wedge next to a stovepipe still on ground. This tornado will go down in history.

nwburbschaser
The cell to the south is going to merge with the more mature supercell very soon. I wonder what impact that is going to have.

andyhb
Hopefully a cell merger will disrupt our mulit-mesocyclone monster supercell here in a bit. Cells like this tend to "eat" everything.

cyclone77
Any chasers who skipped on today are kicking themselves in the private parts right now. That would be me lol. Haha, I'm happy for the chasers who made the trip though to be sure. Glad to see 2014 finally pay off big time. That other cell to the south of the main one is starting to look pretty interesting as well. May get sucked in by the big one eventually though. 1900hurricane
Most recent scan showed the circulation jumped due north. Yep, hooked left right into the rain. Hopefully it's dissipating now, but can't tell for sure. The parent supercell doesn't look as impressive right now. Cycle?
Derecho!
Take a look at the visible satellite loop, you can see the rotation even in that...incredible.
1900hurricane
Large tornado still there on feed, but corresponding radar velocities not as intense as earlier. *EDIT: nevermind, my feed screwed up and started showing old footage.
tornadotony
Looks like this latest cycle may take just a bit longer due to the storm merger. But the longer it takes, I fear the more danger the Sioux City metro is in.
