ice1972
complete noob question (I'm not a met). How do you get the lightning detection in radarscope As others have said the lightning detection is only days old....given that real time lightning data is hard to come by for free I bought it the day it came our....weathertap has a lightning feature for free but there is a delay and it doesn't animate....$10/yr might be steep but for a weenie it's all good.....when you zoom in the resolution goes up too.... Tremendous...
weatherwiz
While eastern sections have not had much thus far the overnight period needs to be watched b/c there is potential for quite the deluge across a chunk of eastern sections. There are actually several ingredients in place which are quite favorable... 1) Looks like some higher theta-e air is working into far eastern MA and will continue through at least the first part of the overnight hours. 2) Increase in LLJ. While we did not have much instability in place today, it is not zero and we will keep some instability in place through the night. We will also begin to see the LLJ crank. Across SNE, especially with some instability to work with, showers and t'storms can sometimes perk up as they near eastern sections on the nose of the LLJ. 3) Mesoanalysis shows some moisture convergence potentially setting up and perhaps even some frontogenesis...would be something to really watch for further enhancing lift. 4) PWAT maxes may actually be across eastern MA...could see them spike up to maybe 2.2-2.3''. 5) Strongest 850mb moisture transport also over these areas. I also wouldn't rule out possibility of a strong to marginally severe t'storm across the south coast during the overnight (although this is the case region wide too IMO)
Damage In Tolland
The Mesos insist on a big MCS tonight, but so far no real evidence of that on radar out to west
