And with the latest cells popping up around here, I've been completely missed in every direction today. Not a drop IMBY. Really crappy luck lately. Can't wait for the next couple of days of more t'storm failure. I know...  :violin:

lol

Can't say I'm thrilled about our severe prospects locally on Monday evening into Tuesday.  Not totally writing it off but I'd much rather be in northern IL or somewhere close to there.

Right. At this point, a couple claps of thunder and I'd be thrilled. What a boring 2014 severe weather season for us. Guess we're paying now for the Nov 2013 tornadoes...and the winter. :D

I noticed the bolded.

It led to a pretty expansive Cirrostratus deck that you could see down here in NE Detroit. I didn't know where it was from though.

There were reports of places way inland in St. Clair and Macomb county of ashes falling from the sky because of it. Oops.

DTW's back down to 86*F at 3 PM (from 87*F at 2 PM).

Oh well...

City Airport did indeed make it to 90 today though, even though that isn't the official reporting spot.

Daily rainfall record at Chicago/ORD yesterday. The 2.60" that fell broke the previous record of 2.59" (1977).

5. 7.81" - 2014

6. 7.62" - 1926

7. 7.25" - 1916

8. 7.18" - 2009

June was a pretty great month for a couple reasons.  First, I got 14.38" of rain, which smokes the old Cedar Rapids record for wettest June.  The only other double-digit monthly rainfall totals I've had since I started keeping track seven years ago were June 2008(11+") and August 2009(12+").  Second, it was a very pleasant month temp-wise.  The entire month only had two days that rose above 85 degrees.  In addition to the general greatness of the month, on the 16th I experienced my worst storm in years.  It was windy with good lightning for over 30 minutes and there was significant tree damage in my area.  I even briefly went to the basement when the severe wind hit and small tree debris began hitting the house.  Then, this past Sunday night I experienced the heaviest rain in my lifetime.  I received an incredible 4.8" of rain in about 70 minutes.  It's unlikely I'll ever seen something like that again.  If July brings half the rain and only one great storm it'll still be another good month.

June was just plain wet. Never seen so much fog in the month before.

Stats.

An interesting fact; since I started keeping detailed precipitation records in 2002, June is averaging the wettest month of the year at 4.80".

After reading this I checked my data.  Over the last eight years my yard has average a very impressive 7.59" of rain in June.  Only June 2012 was below avg with only 1.77".  The other seven Junes have been above to well above to ridiculously above avg.  It has been quite a stretch.
