Sounds good to me as well.

Second that!

Maybe we can get some of those storm complexes that like to roll threw this area in the morning. Nothing like a MCS acting as an alarm clock in the AM.

Yep, morning storms are a lot better than middle of the night, I would gladly take some early to mid morning boomers after a warm muggy night.

I hope these guys won't mind when someone posts that they hope it will be in the low 40s all January seeing as it is pretty much the same.

Hey it's our preference.  If it's warm and stormy like 2010 it would not be bad, but warm and drier than normal I want no part of, and we are due for a cooler than normal summer.  Out of the previous four summers, last year was the coolest, and even that was marginally cooler than average at best.

What makes a mild January day terrible for a weather enthusiast is that it's generally boring and not warm. If it's in the low 40s in January, it's usually accompanied by strong S or SW winds. It's not like you're going to go outside and go for a bike ride or head to the pool. If it's sunny and in the 70s in June, it might be boring as ever for a weather enthusiast but at least you can occupy your time by enjoying outdoor activities and being comfortable.

I would be quite content with the temp NEVER going over 75 degrees. I'm not a swimmer, I don't have any use for hot weather, you can't garden, mow the lawn or just walk around outside without misery. Its bad for golf and all other outdoor sports, its only good for swimming.

Actually that's a bad comparison. High heat is the extreme of summer... 90+ is more like rooting on sub zero low temps in January.

Sub zero low temps are semi entertaining for statistical reasons, but they really offer no recreational enjoyment. If winter was 25F with lows of 15 degrees, I wouldn't complain, extreme cold is worthless, beyond making me feel a bit safer riding on a lake.

whatever floats their boat. If someone enjoys a day where its too warm for snow but too cold for anything else...enjoy :lmao:. Btw im not saying id love a summer of constant low 70s (which is a more fair comparison if you want to use low 40s in jan)....a summer of highs 75-80 and low humidity would be amazing for me.

Of course what anyone wants doesn't matter...we dont live in a climate of constants...so expect plenty of variability regardless.

This is kind of OT, sorry in advance if I shouldn't post this here - just a quick question. Does anybody know why some WFO's post their AFD's in all caps and some use mixed case? I was in the STL area for the weekend and was reading their AFD's, at first the mixed case was annoying but by the end of the weekend when I went to pull up the LOT AFD to see what awaited me at home I realized how much more readable the mixed case is. Kind of hope LOT will change =)

It's a regional test bed for mixed cased AFD's etc. ILX and STL are amongst the offices participating but unfortunately we're not. Haven't heard anything about us changing to mixed case any time soon, but it would be nice.

Moved to the right thread. lol

I'm probably too far east to see any action today tonight. Looking forward to some strong storms tomorrow though.

Ended up with inch and a quarter total of rain...    We needed it, so it wasn't bad from that perspective.   Showing blue skies and sun now...should see low 80Fs today.  Extended continues to look cooler, but at least the AC shouldn't be needed for awhile.

I picked up 0.67" late yesterday and overnight, which we also needed.
