The reason for my love of hurricanes is three-fold:

1. I love wind. Wind, for whatever reason, is my favorite thing to esperience and I haven't yet experienced true sustained 40+. This is a dream of mine.

2. I love duration events. Thunderstorms are over too quickly.

3. It is WARM during the event.

I hold this same view, but I had a bunch of people jump down my throat for saying that. We love weather so why would I not get excited for a true cane experience around here? More retorical than anything because the same people will tell me snow isn't "dangerous."

I can't help it if hurricanes are my favorite weather event. How would the snow lovers feel if a bunch of people said OMG are you crazy don't root for 2 feet of snow with blizzard conditions!!!

Some folks just have a fascination for frozen water droplets I guess. I'm certainly one of them, but a 6" storm isn't all that thrilling to me.

Posters will call you out for rooting on a 'cane, but come the day it actually happens, they'll be in the boat with you. ;)

Not exactly the nicest of beach days for Myrtle, Wilmington, Carolina Beach, etc. I suppose the one saving grace is that this is coming at the end of the typical rental week. Week long renters are either already there or will not be arriving until Saturday/Sunday when this thing is long gone.

We typically go over to the eastern shore(bay side) on the 4th but this storm changed things.  It would be too winds and rough to go fishing anyways so no loss.

This one was neat to see pop right off the EC and not be a long track CV storm.

Of course, I imagine most week renters that are supposed to leave Saturday morning are getting out of dodge today. Hwy 12 is probably moving at a snails pace. I see that they ordered Ocracoke to be evacuated beginning at 5am today. The last ferry leaves at 5pm. Also see that Arthur is now progged to be a minimal Cat 2 for landfall.

Family evacuated from ocean front home in Hatteras Island. No big deal, went right ahead and rented at Nags Head where there isn't a mandatory evac. LOL

Just had fire engine go across the highway about an hour ago saying residents are in serious danger. Holiday Inn one street off the beach. Starting to get a little nervous...

was wondering if anyone would be in this thread, I just noticed more of a NNE heading lately and strengthening...if it speeds up a tad more than forecast I was thinking some along S Delmarva will get some decent wx

looks like outer bands moving into Southern (VA) part of Delmarva over next hour
