IsentropicLift
Someone's head is rolling for this one...loss of revenue over a rainout called too early...ouch Honestly the rain currently off the mid-altantic coast will likely impact the city. They might have been able to pull it out with a few rain delays but with good weather coming up they probably just didn't want to deal with it. SnoSki14
most forecasts had us raining all day here--oops. 3:45 and yet to see a drop. Models were pretty adamant on this essentially splitting and missing us with the heavy stuff so it's not really a bust, looks like the Nam had the best idea so far. Brian5671
Its a bust when most areas may struggle to see .1" No model showed that little rainfall if that line off the delmarva misses, it will be tough for many to get more than .1-.25 except well east of the city, might even miss me out here! Juliancolton
Well, this rainstorm more-or-less continued this past winter's theme of hyperbole-laden threads yielding lackluster precipitation events. 4 hundredths of an inch since this morning and drizzling a bit... will be 'lucky' to hit 1 tenth. I'm not complaining (well, only a little).
doncat
Lets see if this month follows March and April with below normal rainfall up until the very end of the month followed by a big rainmaker to end the month.

IsentropicLift
Upton and Mt. Holly both like the HRRR. FWIW they think the 12z GFS has the slight victory here out of the non-Mesoscale models. HRRR brings the stuff off of the Delmarva straight up the NJ coastline tonight so we shall see exactly how it pans out but they haven't dropped the flash flood watches so that should tell you something. If you look at the last frame or two of the radar (wunderground) you can see it pivot towards the coast.
IsentropicLift
If you look at the last frame or two of the radar (wunderground) you can see it pivot towards the coast. Makes perfect sense given that mid-level winds are still out of the southeast ahead of the front. Negatively tilted trough FWIW.

Superstorm93
Absolutely pathetic rainfall amounts as of this afternoon. This old/decaying front just couldn't keep it together long enough to deliver some beneficial rainfall. That mass off the Delmarva is the last hope for a couple days. Reservoir around is is literally empty...like I'm able to walk on it.

IsentropicLift
Got lucky enough to get under a heavier downpour here at home. Poured here for the last 20 minutes or so. The stuff down south looks slated to come right up the GSP.

If it's moving east at all it's doing so very slowly. 1" per hour estimates loop shows that convection moving almost due north.

I can't remember what tropical storm it was, I believe 3 summers ago. The city literally had no rainfal but I drove out east and it was 50-60mph winds and heavy rain fast once you past fire island. IsentropicLift
So looks like they were smart to call of the Yankee game after all. Nothing worse then playing an inning or two and then going into a pro longed rain delay. Kills the pitching staffs and miserable for the paying fans. Earl in 2010 http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2010/Major-Hurricane-EarlI don't remember Earl affecting the area other that large swells and maybe Montauk getting some tropical storm conditions.I'm not positive, but there might have been tropical storm watches or warnings for eastern LI. And I think there were hurricane warnings for the cape but it passed by as a tropical storm.
