Subtropical Moisture Heavy Rain Potential 5/16-5/17

I don't remember Earl affecting the area other that large swells and maybe Montauk getting some tropical storm conditions.

I'm not positive, but there might have been tropical storm watches or warnings for eastern LI. And I think there were hurricane warnings for the cape but it passed by as a tropical storm.

The wind was definitely stronger the further east you went so I'm sure Montauk had stronger winds than fire island for example. I vividly remember driving east on ocean parkway from jones beach to fire island and just seeing the wall of rain the further east you go. Not even drizzling until right before you enter the heavy rain band.

it was a joke here...no wind and a quick 10 minute shower after tropical storm warning and the usual doom/gloom from the media...which is why some folks didn't pay attention to Irene and Sandy
