jm1220
Very solid rain event for all, came in pretty much as predicted: 3-5" of rain for all except Suffolk County, which was always expected to get the lighter end of the rain totals. Nassau County had 4-5" of rain it seems, which sounds right since the rain was coming down in buckets for a time last night. It still paled in comparison though to other rain events we had, such as the remnants of Andrea (6" of rain mostly in a few hours in Long Beach) last June or the August 2011 rain event before Irene (10" of rain in a few hours). Luckily we don't have heat coming in behind all this rain, or the humidity would be unbearable.

jm1220
4.51" in the town over from me (Lido Beach) so I guess that's what I'll go with. Nassau County looks like one of the jackpot spots with 4 to almost 6" of rain.

IsentropicLift
Got some pretty terrible news this morning from the town and now I can see it for myself. The Wanaque reservoir has exceeded its Maximum level and is now flowing over the dam and into the Wanaque river downstream. This will continuously feed the entire river system downstream including the Ramapo, Pompton and eventually Passaic rivers. While this won't cause water levels to dramatically rise it will pro long the currently ongoing minor flooding as well as keep water levels abnormally high for the foreseeable future making the area more vulnerable to future flooding.
