Probably the greatest hail storm I have ever witnessed in person - power has been out for the last 75 minutes....generator kicked in so all good.

0.74" of rain

Trying to upload pix but says the file is too large. Kids had me grab a bag of the hailstones and put them in a plastic bag in the freezer - still have ice on the deck 50 minutes later

I was at work during the height of the storms, but in fact,

that is what made the day.  Usually enjoy tracking the

storms for other folks, but it was nice to finally be in an

actual severe storm today.  I work at a school near the

Gloucester/Salem county line in NJ.  At 4:45 PM, the hail

began falling and did not stop until 4:55 PM.  Most of the

hail was Penny to Quarter Size, but a couple of isolated

golf balls were mixed in.  I live in Swedesboro, and the

school is 3 miles SW of town.  The town apparently got

hail too, but not sure what size.

The hail was wind driven, and was slamming against

the side of the building.  Many of the stones were

smashing into each other upon hitting the ground.

It accumulated in a slushy fashion, and it did look

like snow in the grass, as has been photographed in

many areas across the CWA.  Numerous leaves and

shrubbery were all across the roadways from the

combined wind and damaging hail.  I knew the storm

was on its way about an hour earlier, but did not know it

would be to this extent.  Reviewing KDOX and TPHL,

the hail core of the storm and timing of the loops

correlates well to the timeframe.  Would have been

nice to see what KDIX saw, but that's how it goes.

Sounds like a tornado may have occurred in Kent

County Delaware based on images and reports.

Strong gusts were reported at some airports around

the area, with plenty of rain and lightning.  In other

words, a little of everything.  Also, much credit to

Tony and Walt, as they were in beast mode today

with the warnings, including the Tornado warning

as well.

I was in north Allentown, near the border of Whitehall, when the storms hit today. It was the craziest storm I can remember seeing with blinding rain, strong wind gusts, and ping pong ball sized hail. I took a video which I'll try to upload to Youtube later. Basically, it looked like a tropical storm out there...but with hail.

Hail may have stripped them bare.

Off an on pea sized hail here for about the last 25 min, covered the ground occasionally for a T of snow/ice cover for the date.

.67" of non-needed rain

eerie driving through this area tonight on the way home from work (the storm passed directly between work and home--12 miles; no damage at work or home).  there was still hail on the ground in shaded areas and gullies, 4 hours after the storm passed.  none of the trees have leaves left on them--even larger trees.  odd looking site at this time of year.  still a few cars abandoned along the highway and in the berkshire mall parking lot, with windshields shattered.  i have several friends whose cars are totaled.
