Treckasec2
My power went out. Crazy stuff. It has been a bit windy for the past few hours, with some 2 second strong wind gusts. Every once in a while, I hear a very loud noise of leaves shaking about. Sort of felt like Hurricane Irene. Almost two inches of rain here. Well, I mean the power went out and is back. Ugh, some lightning flashes and lights are flickering. ;-;
BBasile
Rain is starting to taper off here, but still falling at a rate of 0.63"/hr. 2.84" on the storm, 0.54" since midnight. 4.09" on the month.
Maxwell03
Perhaps a dumb question but does the NWS keep records at KMIV? This has got to be one of the wettest days on record there.
BBasile
Perhaps a dumb question but does the NWS keep records at KMIV? This has got to be one of the wettest days on record there. They do. Not sure what the final number was for KMIV, but at 0354Z, they were at 8.92". Looks like the record was/is 9.06" in 1997.

BBasile
Decent light show down the shore right now. Though I'm 40 miles from it. From our AFD.. That was close. Guess the last 6 minutes of the day didn't net anything.

Treckasec2
It's like a tropical storm moved through. Heavy rains, winds, occasional lightning, and a vortex like feature on the radar. The storm that just moved through gave me a quick quarter of an inch in 10 minutes. 1.8 to 2.03 inches of rain from one storm.
Maxwell03
Funny sight outside right now. The moon is out shining above me and yet off to my west I see darker clouds with CC bolts lighting up the sky.

The moon is shining bright and there are meteors to boot. Though I'm standing in a field photographing this and the mosquitoes are killing me. Worth it. Treckasec2
Once the sun rises, I'm going to check for any branches that may of fallen down. What a fun night this was. When I looked outside, I did see an area of leaves and 2 branches close to my house. It's foggy and humid now.
SmokeEater
not to get trolled by mentioning climate change...but I never recall non-tropical rains producing so much rainfall in years past. Just the overall intensity of heavy rainfall the last few years (nation-wide) has been pretty impressive and record breaking. It was crazy man, I've never seen rains like we saw last night. Sophisticated Skeptic
Isolated amounts of 4" of rain per hour reported on long island overnight. Those types of amounts never fell before 5+ years ago...anywhere. Maybe during a hurricane, but even that's a big maybe. This could only mean the amount of snow possible per hour has increased as well.
zenmsav6810
1.85 inches here in Douglassville according to weather underground. Rained pretty hard from 10 until about 2:00 am last night. Never hit the super heavy stuff though.
NortheastPAWx
It ramped up a bit overnight, but definitely nothing near what others got. Wound up with a storm total around 1.20".

Yeah, I don't want to get into a climate change debate either, but I've noticed the same thing -- at least here along the EC. It seems that ever since Floyd these sorts of heavy rainfalls have become more common. Perhaps it has something to do with the AMO. Anyway... Fortunately I missed out on the heavy rains overnight. Had a good downpour around 12:30. Looks like .5" for the entire event.
