...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR CENTRAL WHITE COUNTY UNTIL
830 PM CDT...

 

AT 802 PM CDT...STORM SPOTTERS AND NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
METEOROLOGISTS WERE TRACKING A CONFIRMED TORNADO WITH REPORTS OF
DAMAGE.  THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY TORNADO WAS LOCATED 7 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF MT VERNON...OR 12 MILES NORTH OF CABOT...MOVING EAST AT
40 MPH.

 

THIS IS A TORNADO EMERGENCY FOR FLOYD. TAKE COVER NOW.

Yes, latest scan has it. This is the worst TDS we have seen since the dual-pol has came online.

 

Impressive and persistent dual-pol signatures with this storm. Elevated Kdp values (possibly showing the downdraft region) have been occurring upshear of the Zdr arch signature (suggesting strong low-level veering along the inflow region).

The strangest thing is that this is the only cell that has gotten remotely this intense over AR... there are no cells directly to the south that might impede its inflow. Another impressive fact is the lack of occlusion so far, its maintained a nice debris ball for 1+ hour so far. 

 

Its favorable position along the baroclinic boundary certainly has helped with low-level shear. If the storm continues with a strong enough component into this boundary it will eventually get into the less buoyant air. However, the boundary may continue to lift northward as well, though likely not as quickly as the storm motion.
