SouthernNJ
Sounds like a tornado may have touched down near Odessa, based on the LSR from EAX.
Jim Marusak
looks like the cluster of thunderstorms that were earlier near KC and I-29 are now forming a squall-line, with the bow of the line being near i-70. and gusts seen so far seem to be supporting that for Missouri for the next little while. KSWx
The sun is shining now in Topeka after the first round of heavy rain. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm in Topeka as well, there's a remote chance that something pops up along the dryline, but the general model consensus seems to be that we're done for the day. Bummer. Still had a glimmer of hope that something would get going due to return of instability with the clearing behind the morning storms... Subsidence I suppose? Confused as to what is missing for redevelopment...

PSUBlizzicane2007
I don't get the lack of PDS designation w/90-60 probs. I thought 60 for EF2+ was a threshold for PDS designation. Issuance of PDS is subjective...not objective. From SPC FAQ: The "particularly dangerous situation" wording is used in rare situations when long-lived, strong and violent tornadoes are possible. This enhanced wording may also accompany severe thunderstorm watches for exceptionally intense and well organized convective wind storms. PDS watches are issued, when in the opinion of the forecaster, the likelihood of significant events is boosted by very volatile atmospheric conditions. Usually this decision is based on a number of atmospheric clues and parameters, so the decision to issue a PDS watch is subjective. There is no hard threshold or criteria. In high risk outlooks PDS watches are issued most often. They might upgrade portions of the central/eastern parts of the watch and points slightly to the east of watch 97 later into a new PDS tornado watch, perhaps.
