FatherFrost
To be quite frank, how the ____ do you cancel something that hasn't even started? Lol. As they say "It ain't over, til it's over" Ji.
Ed Lizard
There should be internal medicine boards where doctors could discuss their cases and amateurs could weigh in with diagnoses. They have medical and lawyer shows on TV, ditto cops. Boards would work. Now, I could start a petroleum engineering forum, if I new how the interwebs work, there is a site called 'The Oil Drum', which had some interesting reading during the BP spill, but there is nothing in the Gulf of Mexico oil field that could cancel days of school. Ed Lizard
There are geology boards? Have you ever created a cross sectional geographic map of the Sawtooth mountain range, using only a surface map with surface formations and strike/dip information. Geology boards would be sick, man. I took ~30 hours of geology in college.

JBG
I'm pretty sure he canceled it back in September over at Eastern. Wow that would be a little early Not really. Remember, this is La Niña, on steroids.
isohume
Not really. Remember, this is La Niña, on steroids. Lol...a -ENSO != "winter cancel". Especially considering the SST anomalies have decreased in maginitude over the last 30 days and the models are up in the air about further weakening or strengthening during DJF. Also, the eventual set up of hemispheric blocking patterns will have a major impact on synoptic set-ups and sensible wx as usual.

If you count vulcanology, yes! http://bigthink.com/blogs/eruptions/ Erik Klemetti's blog is wonderful, and he attracts all kinds of theorists during large "media event" eruptions - they really munched his bandwidth during the Eyjafjallajokul eruptions last year. Still, he's pretty good natured about it, all things considered...
LongIslandHurricanes
if we cant even get cold and snowy when models are showing -NAO towards the end of November, we might as well unplug the winter like we unplugged Eastern us wx. Its over what an ass.winter hasn't even started yet and your canceling it,lol

VA Mad Man
If you look at Wes' thread, youll see that the Pac matters much more than the Nao for November.... so a -NAO should bear fruit in December. Just be patient. Very, very good point, ALEX.
