RedSky
Considering the current monthly departures at places such an NYC and Trenton and the projected cold the next two weeks we are headed for a Jan-Feb colder than 2014. Incredible Maybe the 1977 analogs have worked out, other than December quite a cold Nov Jan and Feb. Also a low snow year in Philly. Much much better than Boston did in that year however

JCT777
It's best to set all snow expectations to less than an inch for every potential storm. If 1"+ does fall, then it's a pleasant surprise.

The Iceman
I'm really liking the threat 2/18-2/19 timeframe that's been showing up in the long range. Southern stream storm with a ton of moisture and a strong high pressure to the north of it, I think this will be the best shot at "the big one" for this winter. RedSky
My brother told me the other day that he heard on weatherbell that all the heavy snow for this winter is just delayed and is coming in the next 30 days. I had to lol

RedSky
Hilarious 12z GFS crushes Philly with 8" this weekend and spreads the love in surrounding areas from an inverted trough slice of pie that screws NYC and DC. Savor it for 6 hours...

Heisy
Looking at an inverted trough potentially, could mean someone could see a few inches, problem is, impossible to forecast

BucksCO_PA
Inverted trof was showing up in NC a couple days ago...VA yesterday.....PA/NJ today. You guys do know where this is headed right? GFS has consistently had this feature between DC & NYC for the past 8 runs & actually has moved it south the past 2 runs.
The Iceman
Long range GFS is full of potential. Good Miller A signal around day 8. This has been there the past few days. Really like the 1040 high and cold air around, and with it being a miller A, moisture will not be an issue either. This looks like the best threat all winter imo. A lot can change still, very interested to see what the Euro has to say about this threat.
The Iceman
GFS has consistently had this feature between DC & NYC for the past 8 runs & actually has moved it south the past 2 runs. Correct, there has been no north trend so far with this feature. Not saying that it won't change, but this has been bouncing back and forth, and will continue to do so up until the event. Inverted troughs are incredibly difficult to forecast this far out, would not rely on it to be the main source of snow this weekend, though it is definitely a possibility.
