CAPE
I know the last 5 winters IMBY off the top of my head, all from 2 miles NW of Greensboro MD... 09-10: 68" 10-11: 20" 11-12: 1.5" 12-13: 9.5" 13-14: 41" I have data going back much further on a hard drive somewhere. I do know that the NCDC long term avg of 18.5 inches is about right for here. I know some prefer to use shorter term avg snowfall data, but I am not a believer in that. The larger the sample set the better, unless one is convinced the climate has already changed, and data pre-1980 is no longer representative. PhineasC
Really puts this winter into perspective. It wasn't as exciting as 09-10 but it will still rank amongst the greats for a number of reasons not the least of which was snowfall.
CAPE
Really puts this winter into perspective. It wasn't as exciting as 09-10 but it will still rank amongst the greats for a number of reasons not the least of which was snowfall. It was great and just as enjoyable as 09-10. While that winter was amazing for the 3 big storms, there was some long droughts in there, esp the latter part of Dec and most of Jan. Plus winter ended early. This winter the cold would not quit, and we had some bonafide arctic shots, plus the frequency of snowfall. It snowed a lot. And topped off with a pretty epic March with most getting 2 and in some cases 3 warning criteria snow events.
