michsnowfreak
Surprised how much snow is left...rooftops still mostly snowcovered, many elevated bushes still fully draped in 2-3" snow, parts of the grass have sucked up all the snow while other parts still have 1-2" left. Not a usual sight for April. Also...wanted to add...that after Sunday night temperatures hovering around 70F would be above normal for a July overnight, Monday night snow ended with some blowing and drifting! Todays high of 33F at DTW broke the record low max for the day by 3F, the snowfall of 2.5" tied (aka broke) the record snow for the day, and of course the season snowfall record was broken today as well (94.8"). Wanted to share two more pics I took...these not of the scenic variety like the ones I posted this morning, but moreso of the unusual variety. Though it didnt stick to the pavement, the snow took on a powdery character near the storms end, so we have some blowing and drifting...in mid-April. Never saw that before: This pic was taken at 6pm as snow shower clouds dotted a chilly April sun..impressive that this much snow managed to remain by days end. stormtrackertf
There were some really cool snow squalls this afternoon too. Mixed in with the bright April sun was something to see, especially with the convective look of the snow-shafts in the distance amidst the blue skies.
