andyhb
Quite a shallow quake for one that strong, only 10 km depth of focus so there's likely going to be damage. Centered near Iquique, Chile, tsunami warnings issued for the Pacific Coast of South America. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/

LakeEffectKing
Lot of pressure being released lately around the Pacific rim....wouldn't be surprised to see some resultant release of the New Madrid fault system over the next few days/weeks. Though experts generally say earthquakes separated by great distances are not related, there is some evidence that the Earth does indeed experience worldwide upticks in global activity. Solak
Via Brad Panovich Even the local SC seismograph is still showing the waves of energy that are traveling through the entire curst from this massive M 8.2 Earthquake in Chile.
