Yesterday was great across Iowa.  Cedar Rapids hit 69, the highest temp of the year so far.  Central Iowa was in the 70s and far western Iowa reached the low 80s.  I'd love to get some humidity to go along with the nice temps.  Yesterday the dewpoint was in the 20s.

Last night's Euro upped this area to the 70s Saturday, with better moisture as well.  It's looking increasingly good for the first significant rain event of the year Saturday night & Sunday.

Was a beautiful but extremely windy day for the most part. Would have made for a stellar evening too if not for the rain.

Crocuses and Reticulated Irises are in full bloom now, with some of the first woodland Anemones starting to bud. Tulips are starting to bud too, and we should have our first daffodil in a few days. Spring is here, finally, indeed.

Heres a totally random "on this date.." tidbit. On this date in 1942, Detroit was hit with its largest snowstorm of the season at 4.2". This spring snow melted in a day, and a few more snow showers fell on the 11th....and thereafter, not a drop of measurable precip occurred the rest of April! What an odd April that must have been, with not a single April shower the last 2/3 of the month. And on the snow side, this 4.2" fall tied with a Dec 1946 storm to be the 5th largest snowstorm of the pitiful 1940s lmaosmiley.gif
