Is Central Park really sunnier than LGA/JFK/EWR?

The sunniest area would be JFK...where the adjacent ocean promotes stability and discourages the development of cumulonimbus clouds...

I better not hear anyone complaining next week when it's rainy and it cools down significantly. Mother Nature just gave everyone a 5 day treat and centered around the entire weekend no less.

I'd probably agree if it was late-February, and not mid-April. I don't think wanting warmer weather is wrong (ever), especially after a harsh winter and a delayed spring.

And it's not like we're in the to 80's and 90's with severe t-storms rolling in, low/mid 70's will be the norm in a few weeks.

Why do you ask this question?

I've noticed that the conditions at KNYC are often "Fair/Clear" while the other stations are generally more variable, I've never paid it much mind until yesterday.

Cloud cover is not an "augmented" element (i.e., human-observed) at the Central Park ASOS, while it is "augmented" at the big airports.  Un-augmented ASOS does not yet report clouds above 12,000 feet, though it is capable of doing so.  I believe the problem lies with getting a new METAR code for "clear below 25,000 feet", but don't quote me on that.

The latest HRRR shows temps in lower to middle 80s for much of NJ today. 850mb temps are between 12C and 14C this afternoon with SSW winds. More S-SSE winds keeping coastal areas muchcooler:

I expect Queens on west to get into the warmth today.

Also northern sections of LI.
