Woke up at 8 this morning, dreary as hell out.  Decided to sleep in, wife just called woke me up and said look outside.  Easily an inch, roads covered and huge parachutes 31 out side.  I'm starting to feel like Phil in GHD.

Not bad for late Morch.

FWA just switched over to moderate snow and 1/2sm visibilities

1/4 mile now.

The area from Kokomo to Marion to Fort Wayne looks to be under some nice banding at the moment.

Measured 1.0" on the nose at my place. Looks like the south and east side of LAF did best around here, which the radar certainly indicated.

IND still 33º and rain. Gross.

Might be the last one of the season here, so here's a pic to commemorate it. :D

Very nice. It's that time of the season where even a slushy inch will set the heart aflutter.

nice. I remember last year u got that late march snowstorm we didn't get....wonder if u will be last again this year too? We had 0.2" on april 20th, im just talking the solid white stuff. Still hoping for 2" more to break the 1880 record...but its not coming today.

Latest measurable snow I can recall since living here was April 14, 2007.  Time certainly ticking but wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't our last snow.

Climo is becoming hostile for us, but you never know.

I remember the April 14, 2007 snow...plus we had snow on my birthday (April 12) that month too.

Started off as all snow here on the westside of Cleveland. We'll see if changes over to rain before changing back to snow ...

Dayton was reporting moderate snow on the top of the hour, looks like they switched back to a mix.

I can vouch for the Dayton report. Got a light coating on cars and grassy areas.

Snow is already starting to accumulate here. Huge slug of precip moving in this direction. Let's see what this storm can do.

Is it all on non-paved surfaces?

Speaking of TSSN, on this date in 1954, an dynamic spring snowstorm hit the southern lakes and though only 4.6" was reported at Detroit, it included TSSN, which the monthly climate log stated "the thunderstorm of the 29th caused considerable public reaction when it occurred during a heavy snowstorm". Pic in the Free Press had tulip shoots plastered in snow. Widespread 6-8" was reported south of Detroit however. Would probably have been a cool storm (but suffering through the 1930s-50s wouldnt be worth it )

Can any of the Cleveland members confirm if there's any TSSN (or what the snowfall rates are currently like)?

It's dumping. Inch per hour rates. I didn't hear any thunder.

Just got back from a walk, will post pics in a bit.

Blizzard is sustained winds, not gusts, AOA 35mph with 1/4 visib for 3+ hours.

Its a nice spring snowstorm is what it is :)

It can be frequent gusts, but that's kind of arbitrary. Regardless, chalk up another wind driven snow here. This winter had one or two gentle snowfalls and that was it. Here's the official blizzard definition:

Sustained winds or frequent gusts > 35 mph AND considerable falling and/or blowing snow frequently reducing visibility < ¼ for > 3 hours Blizzard conditions need to be the predominant condition over a 3 hour period

And further debunking the common myth that snow won't stick to pavement in the spring, during daylight hours, with temperatures above freezing I give you exhibit A:

I dont care what kind of winter we have....this is probably one of the most annoying myths, because we see it on here EVERY YEAR (hell you start to hear some crazy sun angle posts in early Feb) and EVERY YEAR whoever gets a snowfall with any kind of snow rates debunks it. It goes for naught when the next spring arrives though. The models have been pegging CLE for days for this one...while you will probably not have 10-1 ratios, obviously its a nice spring snow.

My mom is one of those by the books people....she loves each season...and she LOVES snow and has loved every minute of this winter,...but when springs here, shes done. So she texts me today...why is it snowing today (flurries)? I said we are just missing several inches of snow east in Cleveland. She said "good they can keep it". I said "MOM..really? 2 more inches for the 134-yr old record". I know people who HATE snow who want to break the record...she LOVES snow...but nope...its spring, so shes done. :axe:

Wow I never knew that...thought it was all constant/sustained. Blizzard is the word that gets everyones mojo going, but I have had ENOUGH wind driven snowstorms this winter to last the next 10 winters. 93.1" of snow and not a plaster here.

The gusts on the hourly obs have generally been around 30-32MPH, so I'd say it falls short regardless. Either way, 4th hour straight now that CLE has been at 1/4 mile visibility...I don't think they've pulled that off more than an hour or two at a time this winter until today.
