Its pretty darn rare, but they have gusted to that in some winter storms. March 29, 1984, December 24, 1994 (actually kind of a hybrid subtropical origin), March 13-14, 1993, and Feb 1978 all gusted near or over 80mph. I know in the 1984 storm, MVY gusted to 97mph.
