Registering with free email accounts

We allowed people to sign up with any email address and without admin registration validation over the last two days while members made the transition over to this forum. However, beginning now all registrations will require admin validation and free email accounts will not be accepted. Please register with an email account from your internet service provider (i.e. Comcast, Verizon, Roadrunner, etc) or work or school email. This is to prevent spamming and trolling accounts. If you sign up with an AOL email address then please be sure you are using an AOL to register your account or else it will not be accepted.

Below are examples of email accounts not accepted:

yahoo.com

hotmail.com

aim.com

live.com

fastmail.fm

inbox.com

gawab.com

myspace.com

This is not a full list. All emails are checked to be sure they are not from free email providers.

Another note for people trying to sign up...

Be sure to click the AmericanWx link you receive in your email in order to confirm your registration. Some people have had the confirmation email go into their junk mail folders so be sure to check that if you haven't seen anything in your inbox. If you are stuck in the validating status and need to have the validation email resent to you, you can do this by clicking the link at the top of the forum page.

If you are not receiving the validation email or you clicked the confirmation link and have not been able to use your account within 12-24hrs, please email us at [email protected] and give us the display name you attempted to register with on the forum. Quite a few people are having an issue with this.
