April Discussion..Mild overall..and really not wild

Damage In Tolland

Yeah, tomorrow might even be worse. NAM 2m temps for 15z today were like 46-47F at ORH...bust. On a 3 hour forecast too...not just yesterday's runs.

Tomorrow's 080 wind at 20 knots and some rain moving in should do wonders for the TIPCON numbers.

Did you see they had UP reported this morning?

Chances are pretty good there will be dry periods in that window, but there will also be some showers as the upper low hangs around. Of course at Sugarloaf those might be of the frozen variety.

Just a general question for the chances of dry weather in Norwestern Maine for the period of 5/2-5/3?

Thinking about heading up to Sugarloaf for some skiing and hoping for a dry weather break.

That's what it looks like. Saturday morning could very well be sunny at best with clouds and showers later in the day. The problem with clouds is having the upper mountain snowpack stay frozen.

Will have to watch the higher summits getting a little bit of freezing rain out of this next system. Bufkit suggests we hang onto some colder air in the mid mountain zone.

Very familiar situation...it really doesn't effect anyone but the ski areas briefly, but I think most people would be surprised just how much freezing rain occurs from September to May in the mountains in that 2,500-4,000ft elevation band. There's always that mid/upper slope cold pocket that is never in a hurry to go anywhere. It could be like +4C on a H85 prog so you wouldn't even think about it, only to find its -1C at H9 and then warming adiabatic below that.

Pretty vintage low level E flow on the temp maps

Interesting day, as most of the suck has been in SNE only, particularly ORH-east and then the East Slope too. Been surprisingly nice from Dendrite northward, even up into Maine outside the immediate coastline. Usually the zone of suck includes straight into the foothills and mountains of NH/ME.

Strong high is keeping subsidence strong to the north today...but that same high will make it putrid tomorrow and especially Thursday up there...Maine will probably be a CAD nightmare on Thursday.
