CoastalWx
RPM like NH and nrn ORH for a little white. Euro is still hinting at some as well it seems. At least maybe some flakes for the highest spots.

At least maybe some flakes for the highest spots. I haven't looked at the GFS but the Euro has some pretty impressive llvl cold for Saturday...925mb temps below 0C for all of us. Euro definitely supports some wet snow showers for the hills/higher elevations...some pretty impressive dynamical cooling too as it develops that circulation just to the south of SNE. SouthCoastMA
Isn't that a sleet signal? (925mb < 0C) Or is it too warm in the BL for it to even matter.

Either snow or rain. It's probably rain for most, but it's borderline in the higher elevations if precip comes down hard enough.

Damage In Tolland
I'm going to see flakes when I thought it would be 65 and mild.
powderfreak
That set up has graupel showers written all over it on Saturday...cool pool and upper level low aloft. Probably one of those days where a lot of people are saying small hail when it's really graupel...that stuff can make it all the way to the lower elevations too, like a rain shower that changes to those dippin' dots when it comes down heavy. I mean you can get graupel to survive to the surface even if 2-m temps are in the mid-40s and there's some dry low level air.

Damage In Tolland
lol that would be funny if I did!The last forecast when you were on air what did you have for Sat? Wasn't it partly cloudy and in the 60's?
weatherwiz
The last forecast when you were on air what did you have for Sat? Wasn't it partly cloudy and in the 60's? The forecast changed...yesterday or the day before I thought we could at least get up into the lower 60's...still with the potential for some on and off showers but the models (well the Euro at least) has a mini circulation developing south of us and looks like has some dynamic cooling associated with it given how temps really fall at 925/850. Also shows some pretty impressive VV's moving overhead and then you have to factor in cold pool aloft moving in. As Scott also said, this time of year wind direction matters most and given the setup on the models now the wind direction looks horrible...just looking more and more like it will be crappy and chilly...this is why this time of year it's extremely difficult to forecast with much accuracy 3-4...even as little as 2 days out, especially when a change in wind direction can mean a difference of at least 10F. Damage In Tolland
It's kind of funny. Will thought he was heading to Hawaii this week and would be escaping an awful week of wx. As it turned out we only one bad day yesterday. And he returns next week to hell on Earth. We are facing the kind if wx and week we all dread. Days and days of clouds, sheet drizzle , onshore flow and wind with temps in the 30's and 40's. We haven't had one of these stretches in years, but it's coming and it's ugly

Damage In Tolland
Cool and wet--great conditions to green the lawn.Ideally you want warm and wet. Not 38-44 with drizzle and North Atlantic hell which is what's modeled

powderfreak
Must've been a sweet day in Caribou, ME... looks like snow fell all day long at 33-34F, accumulating 3.3" on 0.7" QPF. That must be some wet heavy snow, but awesome they can do almost 3/4" of QPF in a snow column during the daylight hours in late April.

Well if we are going to see a pattern which favors a cut-off nearby or a series of cold pools that would be a likely case.
