snowfan
Even on accuwx's silly 45 day long range, you have to go to mid-April to find anything near 70 for MBY. Looks like lots of 50s/low 60s and clouds/showers every few days.
midatlanticweather
Can relate!Hats off to the guys that keep us real and have the knowledge! Grew a lot this year thanks to them! No post winter blues are in. I too cancelled WxBell.
VAsnowlvr82
I'm ready for this winter to end - good riddance. Spring is awesome - trees and flowers blossoming, grass growing, gardening, fishing, golfing, and the beginning of the MLS season - it's the best time of the year. The beginning of the baseball season is the worst part about it. Definitely not the best time of year!

Ian
I like April 10-15....I think we have around 3 weeks left and then it gets tough...Targeting a dusting? Need perfect timing for us by then. Could see hills getting something still but 10th and beyond is mega late for the city. Even way back when that was late for us.

I was being facetious, though this winter some event overnight that drops 1" in the city on like April 8th wouldnt shock me...I almost expect Westminster to get a 2-4" event in the next 2 weeks... HM
I agree with Matt, still. Don't bother getting caught up in run-to-run op model "x" shifts. The ensembles agree on 2 different cut-offs between 4/4-4/10 with declining NAO beforehand. An interior snow event with one or both of theses seems possible. It is also still possible the second one becomes another nor'easter.

I agree. It's another classic model flip from what appeared to be a legit warm spell from a week ago to now showing anomalous cold shots again. Incredible persistence this year. Anomalous cold in April isn't very cold but it can be cold enough at night. I'm becoming interested in the 3/31-33 period. Could be something dropping into the back of the trough after slp/fropa carves things out. Low confidence but I'm seeing clues.
HM
Yes, I thought the switch to warmth for the Northeast was too aggressive by everyone. The shift to warmth will be gradual, especially with Canada's snow cover extent and tendency for the PV to sit on our side. It's possible that after the cut-off period, with the blocking across eastern Canada-N. Atlantic, that a firmer ridge builds-in to our area. But it is around then that the models are signaling another -EPO forming. lol
Eskimo Joe
thats why its more depressing to me. Last year, i couldnt wait for winter to end and get past the horribleness of it and move on. This year...its been so pure/and never ending. One thing that does help is as you said, watching a potential El Nino develop this summer. Best chance to get a real slow moving HECS You need to seek psychiatric help.

HighStakes
extreme cold and heat get to me too and I,m just turning 65!! My mom is 69 and she wears a sweater in July when it's 98. In the winter she keeps the heat on what feels like 80.

My grandmother used to sit by her gas fireplace right through summer! It would be 80+ degrees in the room... I would go outside in summer to cool down! LOL! AlaskaETC
I'm rooting for an entertaining severe weather season. If it is another boring spring/summer, I'll be depressed for sure.
Mrs.J
I just want to personally thank you all for loving winter weather. I enjoy it and am surrounded by people who hate it. This forum has been my winter lovers safe haven the past few months. What I enjoyed the most was I thought we were just going to have a cold season this year and limited snow. Boy was I surprised! But it is spring now and I am itching to get some planting started.

It's great to have this community of people who mostly love winter weather where we can track storms and unapologetically enjoy everything about it with those who understand our odd fascination. As for "normal" people, the whining I constantly hear/read from them in the winter is insufferable and frankly embarrassing coming from grown adults who throw tantrums like 5 year old kids, just because it's 25 degrees outside in January or snowing a few inches. I'm done with winter now that it's late March, and the warmth is welcome....... but I'll be keeping an eye on what goes on with this El Nino for next year
