Mikehobbyst
Potential for 55-60 for a few days, followed by more cool weather with developing -NAO and Greenland block getting established. More like 45-50 after the milder period with typical coastal April weather.

SnoSki14
Do actually see signs of a -NAO for once. It's too late to help us eventually but the SSW event probably has something to do with it and a change back to cooler weather is very possible sometime in early April. WintersGrasp
Mike, to say that I am very disappointed would an understatement. I was hoping on calls of blizzard lasting into late April, followed by a warmup into the 110s with a tropical cyclone coming onshore by June :/ it all seemed to start with the depressing posts yesterday on how this potential winter storm would not only not be the biggest storm ever, but will not even develop as a 3-5 incher. possibly hitting 60 in April ? Blah... this weather has me bored Sent from my iPhone

SnoSki14
In all seriousness, we've had quite our share of extreme weather. From October snows to Irene and Sandy, to multiple 50"+ snow seasons to NYC tornadoes, and to massive April nor'easters. Sure beats 70F and sunny year round with the occasional tremor in s. California though I'd still like to forget Sandy. That went too far.

As you said, we've had everything from a direct impact from a hurricane, tornadoes nearby, a minor earthquake or two, record snow seasons with numerous significant to historic snowstorms, record heat, record cold.....everything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Juliancolton
Warm weather is fun if you can sit by the pool, take a leisurely stroll around a lake, sit back and shuck some oysters, etc. If you have work to do or even want to do more physically intensive outdoor recreation, the weather sucks much of the summer. Hopefully we average a couple degrees below average in JJA*. *unless the heat approaches historical levels, in which case bring it on by all means. extreme > mundane. Cfa
I'm anti-cold, it's very uncomfortable and there really isn't anything you can do in it around here, unlike summer. Late-Dec to mid-Feb is generally the worst part of the year imo.

During a sunny in summer you can go to the beach, wash your car etc. in the winter and its sunny and below freezing what can you really do? Your bundled up and cold. WintersGrasp
A dissident! Do we shun them...? I've seen few of this kind in and around here. I'd say the most logical approach would be to see what their type are like and if they come in peace, then so be it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Late-Dec to mid-Feb is generally the worst part of the year imo. I'm with you 100%. Love the warm months. Only time of the year when you can go outside and not have to worry about having to put on a jacket or freeze. I usually keep my room in the 80's during summer days, 70's at night. I love 90/75 type days. Can't wait for warmer weather. Only thing I like in winter is snow. And so what if we like warmer weather over colder, why is everyone shocked? Lol. WintersGrasp
more clutter threads on this forum IMO this entire thing could be in the banter thread or better yet start an April thread for the whole month or a Spring thread I think we should start a thread just for Mike's forecasts. It should be locked except for access by qualified meteorologists. That way it can be a real conversation that we still are privileged enough to be able to view Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nzucker
12z ECM shows a major -NAO developing with troughing returning to the east by April 2nd. Should be a short-lived warm up with a period of cold weather in Early April. Might be related to the stratospheric warming as well as the sudden drop in SOI associated with El Nino. Maybe in deep Spring but a -NAO can still have cold effects around here in April.
