MJO812
Yes, even with temps below freezing. The snow wouldn't begin accumulating until after 5pm. That's when the NAM has the steadiest snow moving in anyway. I suspect that by tomorrow morning the NAM will have the northern edge south of ACY. Yep, another mid atlantic snow event. nyblizz44
I'm rooting for a 960mb bomb into Suffolk County on Wednesday just to shut people up about climo. I agree but if we r going overboard then why not a 945mb that does a loop de loop from mantauk to our north in Ct and then looping to our south and out a 36 hr storm ( thats a storm similar to the Blizzard of Feb last year only far more intense)
SnoSki14
People also think that what happened with previous storms affects upcoming storms. Would they have the same attitude if the past two storms were not suppressed?

That's the problem here. The NAM at 84 hours is reserved for the banter thread only.

LMAO, well if you use the forecast theory from the other thread that was predicated on the Monty Hall problem, you will eventually be able to do so! I hate Long Island.
Zelocita Weather
This thread should have never been started in the first place. That's the problem here. The NAM at 84 hours is reserved for the banter thread only. Everyone was talking about this storm in the 25-26 storm thread and there is a storm threat within 3 days on most models. Of course it should be started even if we don't see a flake. Threads are for threats not absolute certain storms.

I didn't say that Sunday's "threat" and I use that term as loosely as possible shouldn't be discussed. This is what the banter and general discussion threads are for. I certainly didn't have 24"+ from that storm. The first part of that was rain/sleet where I live and then we had heavy snow to end it for about 12". Central/eastern Suffolk had that kind of snow, not near the city.
GD0815
Agree. People think once Spring starts, it will not snow again. SMH. I think it is more that posting something from the NAM at that range is like posting the GFS at 240hrs. It just isn't reliable enough to take seriously. IsentropicLift
Uhh, what? Much of Long Island had rain throughout the first part of the event and then real snow not until the storm was well underway. I had about 10" or so, the places that really got hit were west of the Hudson Valley, NE NJ, and then up into the Catskills. So you'll need to find another storm to hate Long Island for. I have my storms confused I still don't like Long Island. That was the storm which gave me 10" of white cement while places like Butler, West Milford and Hewitt saw 20"+

That was the storm which gave me 10" of white cement while places like Butler, West Milford and Hewitt saw 20"+ I actually thought you meant 2/25/10 there when you commented before. For me locally, both 2/8/13 and that one had tons of rain and sleet before snow. And then of course on 2/13 this year you had 18"+ snow when I had 7" of mush. I had 2.5" on 12/19 this winter when I'm sure you had at least 6-8". So it's really not so bad where you live for snow and you've had plenty of good events. I had 4" of snow in Astoria, Queens and 2 miles east of me by LGA was still raining. Eastern Queens was raining for several hours before finally flipping to heavy snow. You are probably thinking of February 2013. If you add up the seasonal snowfall from all of the local first order stations for 2012, it might not total 24". Can't say I blame you for wanting to forget that winter.
