dryslot
It's that time of the year when climo is a biatch for those of us on or near the coast. Yeah it is what it is John we get late into the season whatever snow we get, Does not hang around long now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PWMan
It's that time of the year when climo is a biatch for those of us on or near the coast. But usually it's not. This is when ocean temps are at their lowest, and there's been plenty of cold air around -- just nothing to lock it in place during these recent events. It's more back luck than climo, IMO. tamarack
yes,my bud in Sumner14 The COOP observer in Hartford, next town east, probably got 16+, as that location has some elevation and catches snow - avg is near 105", though this is only their 16th year of obs. powderfreak
Got around 3" here it looks like...3-4" on the mountain. We'll see what upslope can do tonight.
powderfreak
Possibly a nice upslope response tonight, associated with this system: && Short term /7 PM this evening through 6 PM Friday/... as of 346 am EDT Thursday...moderate upslope snow event expected tonight into Friday morning for the northern Adirondacks and central/northern green mts. 00z nwp guidance...including local high resolution btv-4km and btv-12km WRF runs indicate good upslope snow conditions with moist cyclonic flow and winds veering into the northwest tonight. Upslope snow will be most favored 00-09z across the northern Adirondacks and 03-12z across/near the central/northern greens...with periods of moderate snow possible. Orographic snow shower activity will gradually diminish across the northern Adirondacks and northern Green Mountains during Friday morning as saturated layer depth becomes shallow. For the entire upslope event anticipate 4-7" totals from Jay Peak southward to Mt. Mansfield...as well as some of the higher summits of the Adirondacks. 2-4" possible along the immediate western slopes of The Greens and communities immediately east of The Greens as well with orographically unblocked flow due to strong wind fields and steep low-level lapse rates through the event. MaineJayhawk
4.7" this morning. It was raining when I took the measurement at 6:00 and an hour later the power went out. Good times
wxeyeNH
Plymouth State total was 11", right around what I thought. Snow depth was down to 16" though, so right around 25" now with some compaction. Not bad for the first day of spring, although 46" is insane! Ended up being the biggest storm of the year, behind 10" on both 12/15 and 2/13. 8th event with 6+ on the season! Plymouth State's 11" was impressive. I started snowing at around 34F and they were 36F so they lost a bit in the beginning due to the high temps and I was a degree or two lower so I had a bit better ratios but only had one inch more. Catching up now to the season averages. This weekends event will put me around my average which I guess is in the mid 80's. We can wrap it up then, don't need a big coastal next week. Im spending $25 to $30 a week keeping my 25 deer in my field alive right now. Next year I am not feeding them, if they die, they die, I just don't want to see it. Its tough on them, this is the northern part of their range. You will see them on my webcam for hours every late PM.
OceanStWx
Have Mike and Chris taken swan dives off the Casco Bay Bridge yet? Net loss around the office, that's all that matters now. Morch on!

HIPPYVALLEY
I'll say this 3/4" sleet is like dealing with 4" snow interms of roads this morning and what I've had to move before it freezes tonight.

powderfreak
Large flakes falling, aggregates that are making the snow surface appear really lumpy. There's like a half inch difference on the snow surface from where some aggregates are clinging together and other areas aren't. Beautiful snow to watch fall though, not overly heavy...probably 1.5-3sm type stuff depending on the intensity of the snow shower that's moving through. SJonesWX
Sweet, My favorite riding areas did quite well AWT i headed up to my dads after work last night for what might be the last ride of the season. there is still plenty of cover on the trails, but the sunny areas are getting worn real fast. trails had a nice flat icy base. there was just enough new snow left for cooling. because of the ice i took it real slow, but it was nice getting out. not often you can get a good ride in this late in the season. i am up to 750 miles for the year. Nice, The sun is doing a number on the high ground on the trails, For the most part, The riding is still fine in the foothills and mountain areas as a lot of the trails are sheltered in the woods, I have projects and some meetings the next couple weekends so my season is over for riding unless i can sneak a day in, I probably have about the same mileage as you have, It was a good year

The early part of the season, when I had a little more time, was pretty much non-existent around here. Now that we have some great riding, there are a few more demands on my time. I'm missing out . Hopefully I'll be able to get out for a bit tonight and/or tomorrow. Close to 6" new snow in my area the last 2 days with a solid base, it looks like we'll be riding into April. powderfreak
Storm totals here from this event.... I include the upslope because its all part of the same low pressure system and upper level trough. 3,000ft... 3.6" + 14" = 17.6" And this was this morning, we tacked on just about another inch before it finally cleared around 2pm. 1,500ft... 2.5" + 8" = 10.5" 750ft... 2.3" + 4.8" = 7.3"
